Practice
Where we advocate.
Sofia Nuño and Ramon Ledezma have handled complex, high-stakes disputes for major public and private companies and insurance carriers. Developed at their prior firms, that experience required rigorous preparation, persuasive advocacy, and sound judgment under pressure.
Today, they bring those capabilities to individuals and businesses facing consequential legal problems. They identify the issues that matter, anticipate the other side’s strategy, and take on the demanding work of building and pursuing a case—with the focus and resolve to protect their clients’ interests.
Civil Litigation
Legal disputes can reach into the most important parts of your life—your relationships, property, financial security, and future. Ledezma Nuño Law represents individuals in civil matters involving agreements, obligations, and competing personal or financial interests, with attention to both the legal issues and the people affected.
Sofia and Ramon bring their experience handling complex litigation to problems that are deeply consequential to the individual facing them. They work to understand what is at stake, identify the strongest available legal position, and take responsibility for moving the matter forward. Their approach combines practical judgment with thorough preparation—pursuing a sound resolution where possible and prepared advocacy in court when necessary.
Business & Commercial Disputes
A business dispute can threaten more than money. It can disrupt operations, strain important relationships, and put years of work at risk. Ledezma Nuño Law represents businesses, owners, and professionals in disputes involving contracts, ownership, partnerships, payment obligations, and other contested business matters.
Sofia and Ramon’s experience in high-stakes commercial litigation informs how they evaluate both the legal issues and the business consequences. They assess financial exposure, anticipate opposing arguments, and develop strategies that account for the company’s operations, resources, and long-term interests. Whether negotiating a resolution or litigating a contested matter, they bring the preparation and judgment needed to protect the business and the people who have built it.
Insurance Disputes
Insurance disputes can place individuals and businesses in a difficult position when the coverage they expected is denied or contested. Ledezma Nuño Law represents policyholders in disputes involving denied claims, the scope of coverage, and an insurer’s obligations under a policy.
Before co-founding the firm, both Sofia Nuño and Ramon Ledezma represented major insurance carriers as coverage counsel. That work gave them firsthand insight into how insurers analyze policies, evaluate coverage obligations, develop litigation positions, and assess risk.
They now bring that perspective to the policyholder side—examining the policy language, the facts surrounding the claim, and the insurer’s stated position to develop a strategy grounded in the client’s circumstances and objectives.
Appeals
Effective appellate advocacy depends on the court’s confidence in both the argument and the advocate. Sofia and Ramon approach that responsibility with deep respect for the judiciary and an understanding that credibility must be earned—through candor, careful analysis, and sound legal theories grounded in the law and the record.
Their perspective was shaped by seeing judicial decision-making firsthand. Ramon’s clerkship with Justice Gregory I. Massing of the Massachusetts Appeals Court and Sofia’s internship with Justice Scott L. Kafker of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court helped them understand how appellate judges examine a case, test an argument’s foundation, and distinguish consequential issues from distractions.
Their federal judicial internships—Ramon with Judge Leo T. Sorokin and Sofia with Chief Magistrate Judge M. Page Kelley, both of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts—further developed that perspective. They bring those insights to building appellate arguments that confront weaknesses honestly, anticipate the court’s questions, and provide a clear, principled basis for the result their client seeks.
Criminal Defense
Criminal charges can threaten your freedom, disrupt your family, and put your livelihood and reputation at risk. Sofia and Ramon understand that the uncertainty and pressure extend beyond the courtroom. They listen without judgment, explain difficult choices honestly, and stand firmly beside their clients—prepared to challenge the government’s case and protect their rights.
Experience in both prosecution and defense settings informs that approach. Ramon interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, while Sofia interned with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, and the Pima County Public Defender’s Office. Seeing criminal matters from opposing perspectives helps them evaluate how the government builds its case, examine where the evidence may fall short, and develop a defense responsive to the facts and the person whose future is at stake.
Their commitment to the community includes accepting court appointments in criminal matters in Nogales, Arizona, representing people who cannot afford counsel. That work reflects their belief that every person deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and represented by an attorney prepared to stand up for them.
Consumer Protection & Class Actions
Ledezma Nuño Law represents individuals and consumers in matters involving deceptive practices, privacy, products, and conduct that may affect many people. The firm examines potential individual claims and class actions with close attention to the evidence and the legal issues that will determine whether a case can move forward.
Sofia previously served as defense counsel in consumer and privacy class actions, gaining firsthand insight into how companies evaluate claims, develop defenses, and challenge a case. Today, she brings that preparation to the consumer side—anticipating those challenges and building well-supported cases for individuals confronting sophisticated corporate defendants.
Legal problems do not always fit neatly into categories.
If you are facing a serious legal problem and are unsure whether it falls within one of the areas above, contact the firm. Ledezma Nuño Law can evaluate the matter and determine whether it is something the attorneys can help with.
